“When I found myself at night and in unfamiliar waters, I had one friend checking the water depth with a pole and another looking for a boat nav app. Luckily we found OceanPulse. We were able to navigate home and I've been a user ever since.”

bigmike2

“Depth and soundings are accurate, works well off the coast. It's the best water nav app I found.”

lil guys2

“OceanPulse is dead simple to use and has free chart data and offline downloads. Finally a modern boat navigation app!”

Sailor Tea

“I use it every day fishing in the Long Island Sound, usually around Block Island or Newport. Great for tides, winds, weather. I mark all my favorite fishing spots and use the live location sharing when my buddies are out on the water. Great app. 5 stars!”

Data overlays

Watch the ocean move

Wind, waves, currents, and radar — painted over the same chart you navigate with, hour by hour, right where you're headed.

Wind, drawn on the water

The latest GFS run, rendered as flowing lines you can read from the helm. Where it's blowing, how hard, and what's rotating your way — no barb-by-barb decoding required.

Direction and speed at a glance
Streamlines trace the flow and the color carries the strength, so a squeeze between two systems reads instantly.
Scrub through the forecast
Drag the timeline and watch the pattern build, turn, and fall apart over the days ahead.
Your chart stays readable
Dial the overlay's opacity to taste — soundings, buoys, and hazards never disappear under the weather.

Waves

Significant height, period, and direction across the whole basin. Press any patch of water for the full swell forecast at that exact spot.

High-res radar

MRMS precipitation from NOAA's National Severe Storms Laboratory, sharp enough to pick individual cells out of a line and watch them move.

Ocean currents

See which way the water is pushing before you commit to a route — whether the stream is a free ride or a wall to punch through.

Straight from the source
GFS, GFS Wave, RTOFS, and MRMS — official NOAA models, no middleman.
Refreshed relentlessly
Every layer lands in the app within minutes of the model publishing.
Radar coast to coast
The entire US, plus Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, southern Canada, and parts of the Caribbean.
OceanPulse wave detail for one point: a Very Rough rating, a colored height curve by hour, and the GFS Wave model and opacity controls OceanPulse marker detail for a saved fishing hole with an hourly table of wind, gusts, waves, period, air temperature, cloud, and precipitation

Press and hold

Any point, in full detail

The overlay shows you the shape of the day. Press and hold anywhere on the chart and OceanPulse breaks that one spot down hour by hour — the inlet you're leaving from, the ledge you fish, the waypoint 40 miles out.

Hour by hour, at that exact spot
Wind and gusts, wave height and period, air temperature, cloud, and precipitation — for the position you pressed, not the nearest city.
The full wave picture
Height, period, and direction across the days ahead, with the model behind the numbers named right on the card.
Measure or mark in the same gesture
The same press-and-hold checks the distance to a waypoint or saves the spot as a marker — without ever leaving the chart.

Tides & currents

Know the water before you get there

Slack, flood, and ebb for more than 3,000 stations across the US — computed on your device, so predictions are always there when the signal isn't.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What chart coverage is included?

OceanPulse provides chart coverage for the US, the Great Lakes, and US Territories, using official NOAA data at no extra cost. We'll expand more globally in the future, and we promise to keep chart data at as low a cost as possible.

Does it work offline or in low bandwidth conditions?

OceanPulse is designed for low bandwidth conditions. Charts, weather data, and GRIB files are stored on your device until expiry, and only the minimal amount of data is sent over the wire. A data connection is required for the auto routing feature.

What weather models are included?

Weather features are delivered across leading models including ECMWF, GFS, and UKMO, so you can compare predictions side by side. The chart overlays draw on GFS for wind, GFS Wave for waves, RTOFS for ocean currents, and MRMS for radar. We expect to selectively grow the providers over time.

How often is the weather data refreshed?

All weather predictions are updated on an aggressive rolling basis. As soon as our data providers publish new data, it's available in OceanPulse within 15 minutes or less.

How far does the radar overlay reach?

Radar uses high-resolution MRMS data from NOAA's National Severe Storms Laboratory, covering the entire United States — including Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam — along with southern Canada and parts of the Caribbean.

What devices are supported?

OceanPulse is available on iOS and iPadOS, with macOS support on the way. We expect to launch a web version by the end of 2026.
